While I was putting my previous blog post here on My Land Pakistan, I was watching documentary about Allama Iqbal. Geomentry has done a good job by coming up with some of the aspects of Allama’s life that we have never known before. I believe it deserve to be part of My Land Pakistan Blog because it is one of a kind documentary about the poet of east and let us know who actually Allama Iqbal is.

It has been a freezing cold day and I was sitting in bank to see my personal banker. A boy came and sat beside me and got busy in filling some forms. “What is the date today?” a question-oriented voice hit my listening senses. I replied its November 9th. Boy suddenly responded, “Hay its Iqbal Day”. I smiled and nodded my head positively. It was pleasant for me to meet someone, who somehow remembers the importance of the date, here thousands of miles away from my land Pakistan. Yes, it was Iqbal day and by the way, I am writing this post many things might have been written, said, and broadcasted about this topic. In addition, by the time it will be posted it might be very late but still I cannot let this day go without writing and sharing anything about the person who are among those people that I love and respect the most.

Zulqarnain Haider the person who played key role in last game to make Pakistan win and he was the hero of the moment that day. The same Zulqarnain, I gave him name – Zulu, was missing today and as per his fb status, he is doing all this as a result of life threat he received. Apparently, it is a journey from UAE to UK but from the corner of the book, I am looking at whole story it is not. It is a journey that started from UK and now has reached to the point where the leading character of the story is back in England. No idea where this story is going take him now, if this all is going to be a new turn in his career or his career is over. Time will decide all this, but still there are many questions about what happened this morning. Continue reading

World has turned into global village I agree with the statement but still this immense development cannot coup with when someone truly want to be at one place but is unable to because of the distance between the places he is at and the one he want to be. However still there are tools to cover this up but there is not any thing that is as good as being at a place in person. “Change” the word that actually made it possible to see the world’s first-ever black man to live in white house. It is still debatable that what kind of change actually came in as the result of that slogan. However, this is not the reason to start the blog post. I am writing this to play my part in the change that is going to take place in Lahore this weekend.
All three TIE Chapters in Pakistan have is coming with one of a kind event with the tag line “Unleashing Change“. Tiecon2010 Pakistan, an event where change is going to be unleashed as a result of an interactive discussion and conference where members of tie are joining hands with the big names to make sure that something result oriented be done for entrepreneurial culture of Pakistan.
The event will start at 8 in the morning; here are more details and the agenda of the event. If you have not registered yet then go ahead and be the part of change, as today is the last date to get registered. In addition, all those people who are unable to be there in person like me Can catch the event at live stream.

Last night when I was going to sleep, I was afraid. No my result was not being announced this morning, I was afraid of a progress report. Still that was not my progress report as an individual however it was the progress report of us all as a nation. I am talking about the report of transparency international. The time I, wakeups the report was out in the news. My fear was gone, as Pakistan ranked 34th most corrupt country of the world according to the report. 34th position that is far less then what I was expecting and afraid of. I was expecting to see the word Pakistan in top 20s. I am not saying this all as if I am against my own country. However I am saying this, all because I am angry the way my country is being run and first of all I am responsible for all this. Continue reading

I am not quitting… yes I am not quitting and that is the official decleration I have to make after the last post. Many think that I am quitting but the fact is I am not. Interesting thing is that at the end of that post, I mentioned my plans but still many are confused. So to all that who think that I am leaving my favorite brainchild I have to say that I am not. I started this blog back in April last year without any preparation and the only thing in my mind was to bring what I feel about my land Pakistan to the people around the world. Even after these so many months the vision and mission is still the same. Education and some responsibilities have some certain importance that is not giving me much time to come and talk to the people whom I like to talk most and convey my message and views to the people who somehow read my blog and me. I am going, leaving the city that I was in love with and the country that is everything to me. The cause is to get something big, yes going to complete my masters. MSC marketing that is the name of my new mission. It is quite strange that one is always in a situation where one has to choose between two loves.
There is nothing and I mean nothing that can define my love towards Pakistan but I am still leaving it for my other love Marketing and branding. It doesn’t mean that I am in love with marketing more then Pakistan however I am going to gain my love to use it create some good for my old love.
Best wishes, prayers, timely annoyed faces, and the big responsibility is in my baggage. This last one year has been challenging and the best year of my life, I passed out Punjab University, got my first job and now going for higher studies. At times, I still find it strange and unreal but just to inform me I keep saying it is you have played well in home now you have to do the same or even better in away.
I do not know when last time I have been so philosophic that I am right now, sitting in a place that distribute people to their destination. I am sitting, waiting, and thinking about the coming one-year and a half. Every day is a new challenge and every day I have to be a champion. I need to aim high to be the knight of champions. I am not excited… Trust me I am not, because whenever I try to be happy and excited the pain of separation from my land, my home, and my people make me sad.
Have I become selfish? That is the question I ask myself. I bereaved the answer I get is not hollow… I do the same what my inner soul replies to the question. I am not selfish and I have to prove it…
Now feeling sleepy as a long journey ahead and my flight is waiting for me across the gate number 28 of Lahore airport. I am Rai Azlan leaving now 15th October 2010 my last few minutes here in my land… Allah Hafiz every one Allah Hafiz my land Pakistan.
(And this last line does not mean that My Land Pakistan blog is over. it will remain as active as it has always been and trust me my voice on social and political issues is going to be louder… Watch out)

Five hours spent in an environment of IT achievements. That is what I feel about the experience I had this past Friday during Pasha ICT Awards. That has been a great experience to be there that was supposed to be the last event I attended in this year and trust me this was the best of them all. As I said in my last post that this event was about the celebration and this feature was there people from ICT and somehow related to ICT were gathered there at Royal Palm golf and country club to celebrate the achievements Pakistan ICT industry has made.
