Microsoft 14 Wave launch in Lahore

Microsoft launched wave 14 in Lahore on this past Thursday. The event held at Pearl Continental hotel Lahore. The turnover was great; when I reached the venue the first thing come to my mind was that, I might be lost in such a rush. Well sometimes, it’s really god to be blogger as I was given special seat in the bloggers’ corner and was allowed to use the internet for free.

Well the event launched almost on time and twas hosting the event. CM Punjab Mr. Shehbaz Shareef was the chief guest of the event. Mr. Kamal Ahmed, Country manager Microsoft Pakistan kicked start the show. Speech of Mr. Shahbaz Shareef was next, honestly I dint like the speech much as he spoke less on IT (though this part was quite valid) and most of the speak turned pointless when he tried to highlight his administration skills.

Professor Zaffar Iqbal Qureshi also made a speech and in his speech the collaboration between Punjab Government and Microsoft was the issue. Prof. Dr. Javaid Ghani was the next to speak I always fail to understand what he wants to say and this time there is no difference. This was the end of the part one followed by a tea/Coffee break.

Now it was the time for the (Very Loooong) short presentations about MS Office 2010, and the other softwares being launched as in; Share point 2010, SQL Server 2008, MS Project 2010, and MS Visio 2010. Well I have a confession that I was getting bored through out the presentations though some features and facts caught my attention but over all my experience is what I have said earlier but for me the sign of relief was that there were few more people who were feeling almost the way I was. Even some of the people were actually dosing.

As much as I can understand, the fatures of some of the applications I felt, like that, I have heard or seen such features at somewhere else as well but soon I realized that Google Docs did all these two years back. Well I cannot prolong this post as I can say anything right now about the presentations, as they could not keep me in spell until now anyhow I along with other people was tweeting about the happening so here is the link if anyone is interested to read them.

However, it was nice meeting CIO team, Ma’am Rabia Garib, Farooq, and Sorat (I hope I am spelling it correct). Well I can say that sitting with a wonderful team do a lot of wonders as some people consider me if I was also part of team CIO, to which I am not but it is an honor indeed to be considered so. One more thing I want to confess that the major reason behind not catching up the presentation and speeches was the Gandasa (a weapon used in Punjabi Films) of PTA. Which was killing one website after the other and the remaining source of news were giving the information that this has been blocked and this one is going to be soon, well it’s another discussion so try to read my coming blogs as I will be writing about it.

As long as Software goes I would say that I can only give my opinion about it after I myself use it, so if I first have to buy it bit isn’t it going to be cool if I get it for free as a gift or something ;) . Well in the end I would like to thank Microsoft Pakistan who let me be there and yeah thanks for the goodie bag though I am still bit sad for not getting X-Box.
